Insivible Journeys

Insivible Journeys

In his photo series ‘Invisible Journeys’, photographer Sebastian Wells met seven extraordinary individuals who refuse to let any obstacle stand in their way: Blind and visually impaired runners not only have to train for speed, but must also get familiar with the terrain and spatial conception of their running route. They also need guides, who are often difficult to find. Despite the lack of recognition in the spotlight, blind and visually impaired runners have been an essential part of the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON since the 1980s. To mark the 50th BMW BERLIN-MARATHON, the itinerating photo gallery UNSEEN is dedicating a place of honour to these athletes, highlighting the themes of inclusion and diversity. Since 2023, UNSEEN has been travelling from marathon to marathon around the world, offering a unique perspective on the sport of running through the eyes of athletes, artists, and activists.
